Mechanisims of asthma and allergic disease – 1082. Relevance of IL-17A to eosinopil accumulation and mucosal remodeling in chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal polyps

چکیده
Background Although chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a multifactorial disease in a heterogenous group of diseases, with different underlying etiologies and pathophysiologies, Japanese patients with CRS with nasal polyps are known to show two distinct phenotypes, i) tissue eosinophilia characterized by Th2-polarization (Ahmed & Ikeda, 2005) and marked expression of eotaxins (Yao, Ikeda, et al., 2009) and ii) poorly expressed eosinophilia characterized by Th1-shifted immunity and prominent expression of IL-8 (Suzuki & Ikeda, 2002).

Role of interleukin-17A in the eosinophil accumulation and mucosal remodeling in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps associated with asthma.
BACKGROUND Interleukin (IL)-17A is a highly inflammatory cytokine with a robust effect on stromal cells in many tissues. Although IL-17A is known to be associated with inflammatory lung disorders by triggering an accumulation of neutrophils, the effect of IL-17A on the upper airway is still uncertain. The expression of IL-17A and its role were investigated in the nasal polyps of chronic rhinosi...
متن کاملCutaneous reactivity pattern and nasal smear cytology in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps; is it associated with the course of the disease?
Background and Objectives: To determine the association of hyper-reactivity to environmental allergens and mucosal secretion cytology with the course of disease in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal polyps (CRSwNP). Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted at Tehran Clinic of Asthma and Allergy in 2016. Adult patients who earned the definite diagnosis of CRSwNP and were free o...

Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a multifactorial disease; however, the presence of nasal polyposis may be a significant underlying etiological factor affecting the pathophysiology. In the pathophysiology of nasal polyposis, up-regulation of adhesion molecules is induced by interleukin-1 (IL-1) in the vascular endothelium and by IL-8 in epithelial cells and neutrophils. This occurs in addition t...
متن کاملChronic Rhinosinusitis with Polyps Is Characterized by Increased Mucosal and Blood Th17 Effector Cytokine Producing Cells
Background: Recent studies have implied a role for Th17 cells in CRS with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) patients. However, the capacity of these cells to produce Th17 cytokines is still unknown. Here we sought to quantify IL-17A, IL-17F, IL-21, and IL-22 cytokines produced by Th17 cells in mucosal tissue and peripheral blood of CRSwNP, CRS without nasal polyps (CRSsNP) and control patients. Methods: Sa...
متن کاملComparison of Expression of Cytokeratin 7 on Epithelium of Nasal Polyps and Mucosa of Chronic Rhinosinusitis
Background and Objective: Nasal polyp is the most common benign mass of the nasal cavity and it is originated from nasal cavity or sinuses. Cytokeratins (CK) are intermediate filament proteins that provide mechanical support in epithelial cells. The purpose of this study was to compare the expression of cytokeratin 7 in epithelium of nasal polyps and nasal mucosa in chronic rhinosinusitis. Mate...
